Beadboard Wallpaper

Ever since I saw Rhoda's post on Southern Hospitality using beadboard wall paper I knew it was something I wanted to try. Just adore the look of painted tongue and groove but can't find it anywhere here. Also in a rental this is the next best thing being easier to remove when we leave.

Downstairs in the new rental house there is a shower in the powder room that we don't use. With two showers upstairs it is a bit of overkill. Not to mention cleaning three bathrooms is not on my to do list. :)

We needed somewhere to be a broom, mop and ironing board closet. With glass doors needing some sort of covering to hide all the junk cleaning necessities the bead board wall paper seemed like it would be a great solution.

After trying to find it online I ended up ordering it from Amazon - and ordered two rolls "just in case".

They finally arrived.

This is the Graham and Brown brand. Looks nice and has a puffy soft sort of texture which should be forgiving.

Here is a before picture of what I am trying to convert into something much more practical and hopefully nicer.

Right now it has this cotton rug from Ikea hanging over it to make the room look a little more presentable. Still looks pretty awful.

My plan is to use the wall paper to cover the glass doors. I would really like to take them down and put in shutter type doors but not being my house that is not an option.

There are quite a few blogs showing how to use this amazing paper in various ways.  Rhoda has this post showing how she put hers up.  Shari at My Cottage of Bliss did wonders with hers. This one by Carolyn at My Backyard Eden is a lovely example of how beautiful this can look.

This last one is from one of my favourite blogs from Australia. Sarah at A Beach Cottage did this cute makeover in her bathroom out of the same wall paper.

I'll let you know how it goes!
